Emergency Preparedness, Thursday, October 3, 2019
Please note: we're meeting the FIRST Thursday in October.
Be Prepared, Don't Panic
For VCPWN’s October meeting, we will have a panel to discuss emergency preparedness. We live in a beautiful part of California - Ventura County. With that, we have the potential for brushfires and earthquakes. And now, the rare possibility of an active shooter situation has affected our community.
We don’t want to dwell on any of these things. We must live our lives and keep a positive and optimistic outlook. But, we should have a plan in place for any of these emergencies, so that we know what to do, how to do it, and where to go, if we can. We should have a plan in place in the event we have to stay put for up to three days on our own. And, if we are separated from our loved ones, we need a plan to communicate if possible.
On Thursday, October 3rd, we will have Ventura County Undersheriff, Monica McGrath, Carpinteria/Summerland Fireman, Gabe Aubert, and Julie Frey, Program Administrator from Ventura County Emergency Medical Services. This panel will be talking about being prepared in advance, and what to do in the event of any of these emergencies.
Each will take 5-7 minutes to talk on their topic and then we’ll open it up to questions. Because of the importance of these discussions, we will be allocating 45 minutes for this panel.
Please join us for this important, informative dinner meeting.
